Hello again more than 'a week or so' after the first post.
Now it is high summer, stultifyingly hot. I love this weather.
To get ahead of the heat I ran very early today. The air was charged, heavy (thunderstorms later?) and laden with bugs.
My best moment was being only feet away from a huge buzzard, suddenly flying out low next to me from a tree. It's feathers looked like it was in moult – I guess the heat is stressful to our birds and animals. Needless to say, I missed the photo :)
Bugs are easier to photograph than buzzards, pausing to drink nectar from the wildflowers. Here is a hoverfly sharing bindweed flowers with some black beetles.
and an Orchard Ermine moth doing the same on a thistle, with what looks like a really long drinking tube. This moth has great character, I could see it in a story book.
Today was all about details, it seems. So to end up, here is the beautiful structure of a large dandelion seed head. More next time (and maybe some art)!
